Crosslinked Polyethylene Tanks

Crosslink polyethylene, corrosion resistant, chemical resistant, poly chemical storage tanks are manufactured in numerous configurations. Poly upright vertical tanks, Poly cone bottom tanks, plastic IBC's, poly basins, poly secondary containment basins, open top, flat bottom upright, transport tanks, poly safe tank systems, poly double-wall tanks, septic, below and above ground. Our poly tanks provide safe bulk chemical storage. Our plastic IBCs are UN approved and always priced to travel.

KEFCO can supply any configuration crosslinked poly, polyethylene, crosslinked polyethylene, polypropylene, high density linear polyethylene, poly horizontal tanks, horizontal leg, uprights, verticals, safe poly containment basins, safe poly double wall tanks, open or closed top tanks rotomolded in HDPE, HDXLPE, XLPE, HDLPE, or polypropylene. Check our warranty! Or, call our competition! We are the worlds' largest stocking distributor with numerous shipping points throughout the USA. Take a close look at our large variety of plastic DOT and UN approved totes and plastic IBCs. We have the worlds' largest all plastic IBCs, the Megatainer 550 all plastic IBCs.

If we don't have it....we'll make it!

The physical properties and characteristics, while similar to high density linear polyethylene, do have a couple of differences. HDXLPE, high density crosslinked polyethylene, is rated at 150°F, maximum service temperature. Crosslinked poly tanks are molded, natural, off-white translucent. Crosslink poly is NOT FDA compliant. Crosslinked polyethylene resin is not weldable and is not recyclable. Today, high-density linear polyethylene is your best choice. Ask for HDLPE or HDPE! Our poly tanks all have a three year warranty.

A crosslinking agent reacts with the polyethylene during molding, forming a crosslinked poly molecule similar to a thermoset plastic. This reaction improves the toughness and environmental stress crack resistance. Today, linear polyethylene tanks provide excellent service and are recyclable and repairable and should be used whenever possible. Crosslinked polyethylene is NOT recyclable or repairable. Guess who pays for the tank that comes out of the mold "kaput""nada", "zip", "useless", the end-user does! Do you want to pay for a tank that the molder had a "problem" with? Ask your crosslink "guy", "Who pays for that?"

The Chlorine Institute, Inc., Phamplet 96 titled SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE MANUAL, Edition 2, May 2000, Section 6.2, Storage Containers, Subsection 6.2.2.4, Materials of Construction, paragraph c), reads:

"Sodium hypochlorite users and manufacturers have had success with high density linear polyethylene tanks, however, high density cross-linked polyethylene should not be used. Vertical stress cracking has been experienced with the cross-linked polyethylene storage tanks in this service."

This has, and continues to be KEFCO's, and KEFCO's customers' experiences. Don't believe all the cross-linky stuff! KEFCO offers a better warranty along with better pricing for this service. Order Phamplet 96 at www.cl2.com and see for yourself! Why has cross-linked poly been spec'd so often? At one time it was the "only" resin available. The original cross-linked polyethylene resins are no longer available and, the rotational equipment is usually out-dated compared to our modern equipment.

Crosslinked polyethylene can be pigmented during rotomolding to protect chemicals that are sensitive to UV exposure. KEFCO also offers barrier coating: for additional chemical resistanace to aggressive chemicals like solvents. KEFCO offers the proven barrier coating technique of fluorination. Container walls are exposed to a mixture of fluorine and nitrogen gas. The end result is a barrier that can increase resistance to permeation as much as one hundred times.

KEFCO's sales team is always willing to help an interested party make decisions relating to resin selection, crosslinked polyethylene or high density linear polyethylene, tank configuration, piping, and valves. We supply quality.......for less.
